Agreements: Community Life
INTRODUCTION
These agreements are the living practice of the Cristaland Community Vision.
They translate the vision into everyday guidance: how we coexist, collaborate, care for the land, navigate tension, and honor life itself. They are not rigid rules, but relational commitments designed to:
-
support emotional and relational safety,
-
prevent recurring misunderstandings,
-
foster conscious responsibility,
-
allow everyone to check in with their alignment before and during their stay.
THE AGREEMENTS
Agreements evolve over time. When questions or disagreements arise, the Community Vision Manifesto serves as our guiding reference. Anyone choosing to live, stay, or participate at Cristaland is invited to read these agreements carefully and bring questions before arrival.
1. The Spirit of the Place and Personal Commitment
Cristaland is a living place, rooted in spiritual, ecological, and community values. By coming here, each person commits to:
-
honoring the vision and intention of the place,
-
acting with honesty, responsibility, and care,
-
recognizing that Cristaland is not a service but a living organism,
-
actively participating in community life according to their capacity.
Cristaland is not a space for consumption or individualized therapy. Everyone remains responsible for their own emotional journey while contributing to a climate of respect and mutual support.
2. Welcome and Integration
Before Arrival The vision of Cristaland is shared with all visitors before arrival. Each person is invited to consciously reflect on whether they resonate with this vision. Expectations—around presence, contribution, and duration—should be clarified in advance.
Upon Arrival A welcome meeting introduces the place, its spaces, and rhythms. The vision is presented orally, and time is set aside for questions and clarification of the agreements. Integration is viewed as a process, not an immediate achievement.
3. Collective Life and Contribution
Cristaland thrives through active participation. Everyone present is invited to:
-
help with tasks essential to the life of the place,
-
respect shared spaces and tools,
-
communicate when a task is beyond their skills,
-
ask for support rather than act beyond their capacity.
Contribution is measured not by quantity alone, but by quality: presence, reliability, and coherence. Specific schedules and task arrangements are defined collaboratively.
4. Communication and Relationships
Conscious communication is central to community life.At Cristaland, we aim to:
-
speak from our own direct experience,
-
listen fully without interruption,
-
avoid gossip or indirect communication,
-
resolve tensions directly with those involved.
Projections, judgments, and unverified stories are recognized as harmful to the community fabric. When discomfort or confusion arises, the person involved is encouraged to speak up rather than withdraw silently or form hidden alliances.
5. Rhythm, Practices, and Collective Moments
Our community life is supported by regular moments of connection and shared practices. Examples include:
-
emotional check-ins,
-
body-based or meditative practices,
-
sharing circles, heart sharing, community days,
-
informal celebrations: fire, music, dance.
The exact rhythm and frequency of these practices may evolve with the seasons and the composition of the group. Participation is encouraged, always respecting individual limits.
6. Money, Simplicity, and Conscious Living
Cristaland embraces conscious simplicity and respect for resources. Financial contributions support:
-
care and maintenance of the land,
-
community functioning,
-
symbolic support for long-term contributors.
Cristaland is not a space for luxury or personal profit. Simplicity is a conscious choice. Detailed financial arrangements are addressed through specific agreements as needed.
7. Individual Responsibility and Safety
Each person is responsible for:
-
their physical and emotional wellbeing,
-
their personal boundaries,
-
seeking support when needed.
Cristaland does not provide structured therapeutic or medical care. Awareness, common sense, and clear communication are essential to maintaining collective safety. Emergency protocols are established and updated as needed.
8. Conflicts and Repair
Conflict is a natural part of community life. When conflict arises:
-
name it early,
-
seek a direct and respectful resolution,
-
aim not to be right, but to restore clarity and connection.
Formal mediation and repair processes are defined collaboratively when necessary.
9. Evolution and Conscious Engagement
Cristaland is a living, evolving place. Agreements are revisited when needed to support:
-
the vision,
-
relational health,
-
care for life in all its forms.
Everyone is invited to:
-
remain in dialogue with their own engagement,
-
signal misalignment,
-
leave respectfully if they no longer feel in alignment.
Cristaland exists thanks to the responsibility, presence, and integrity of those who pass through it. These agreements are an invitation to live together with awareness, simplicity, and truth.
